3 Great Restaurant Dishes in Atlantic City and More

While almost nothing beats the tried and true, I love discovering new dishes in restaurants.

In the last month I have had the chance to try 3 excellent dishes at 3 different restaurants. Each of these three dishes was definitely A + in presentation and taste.

Let’s start with the recently reopened Dougherty’s Steak House and Raw Bar in Atlantic City. A great new place with a great atmosphere inside the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.

I love the prime rib which is well done. Well, moderately rare, but perfectly done. This is what I found at Dougherty. Lots of places have prime rib on the menu, but it’s often hit or miss. At Dougherty’s, it was a effeminate success! Just the right amount of spice, perfectly medium rare, with just enough to add flavor, but not overwhelm the meat. Gorgeous!

Doughtery’s is owned by the family who have owned and operated Dock’s Oyster House in Atlantic City for years and years – they seemed to have made the transition to steak seamlessly.

By the way, a great appetizer is the Scallop Cerviche.

Stop # 2 takes us to the newly rebuilt / remodeled / remodeled Sweetwater Marina and the River Terrace. If you haven’t been there yet, go ahead. It’s like taking a mini vacation in your own backyard – if your backyard is on the Mullica River and you have access to great food, drinks, music, and amazing views!

I wholeheartedly recommend the River Punch Bucket Drink. Yes, it is not a food is it? Well, order something off the menu – whatever you like – and with the Bucket Drink it will be delicious. Everything I have had at the Riverdeck is very good, but when you add the drink and the great atmosphere, it turns the tide of the food up. Make sense ? I have to go there more often!

Finally, it’s back to Atlantic City for Wingcraft. Dozens of beers of all kinds, but it’s the food that really marks me. The burgers are great, but you have to try the chicken parmesan burrata. It’s listed as a sandwich, but we ordered it without the roll. Let me tell you, this is not your Nana’s Chicken Parm. Don’t tell him, but it’s better! I would describe it as a “Deconstructed Chicken Parm” because it doesn’t look like the traditional dish. The panko breaded chicken is tasty, but the combination of burrata cheese and mild marina sauce is really out of this world.

If beer isn’t your thing, blueberry lemonade (with alcohol) is delicious. Oh, have the mac and cheese appetizer. (Yes, they have take out boxes.)

So this is it. If you go to any of these places let me know what you think!
