Impossible Foods launches own plant-based restaurant menu

After supplying restaurants and grocery stores nationwide with millions of plant-based burgers, nuggets, meatballs and more, Impossible Foods is branching out with its own restaurant.

The new initiative, called the Impossible Food Shop, will feature dishes developed by Impossible Foods’ head of culinary operations, Chef J. Michael Melton, and prepared in the kitchens of Dog Haus restaurants, which were among the first in the country to put plant products on their permanent menu in 2018.

Nearly 40 Dog Haus restaurants – the Fremont, Oakland and San Francisco locations, as well as 16 locations in Southern California – become impossible food stores as of this week.

The inaugural menu will feature six Impossible recipes, and customers in the future will have the opportunity to try new Impossible products:

Four variations of Impossible Burger: The Shop Burger and the Double Down Shop Burger, with one or two Impossible Burger patties, lettuce, tomato, dill and Shop sauce; the Chili Cheese Shop Burger, which complements an Impossible Burger with Impossible Chili and cheese; and the Impossible Pat-B Melt, with an Impossible Burger, caramelized cola onions and a vegetable-based cheese sauce on toasted sourdough.

Impossible Chicken Nuggets: The sticky sesame sauce coats the impossible nuggets and fries.

Impossible Breakfast Sausage Burrito: Warm tortilla filled with Impossible Sausage, vegetable egg, tater tots, tomatoes, avocado, plant-based cheese sauce and chipotle cream.

Fries: These are also available topped with a plant-free cheese sauce and / or Impossible Chili.

Impossible Shops meals are available for pickup or delivery via DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats and Grubhub, but not for dinner, a spokesperson said.

According to the company, Impossible products are now available in more than 3,000 California restaurants and 2,000 grocery stores.
