L’Enclume restaurant menu, how to book and how much it will cost


Being the only restaurant in the north with an almost impossible three Michelin stars naturally elevates L’Enclume above the rest. Simon Rogan’s fine dining establishment has several other accolades to its name, the most recent of which was named one of the UK’s top 10 restaurants to eat at the National Restaurant Awards 2022.

Chef patron Simon was also named Chef of the Year at the prestigious industry awards ceremony, which recognizes the best dining experiences in the UK. NRA judges said Cartmel’s flagship restaurant on the edge of the Lake District “is a standard bearer for modern, creative and naturalistic cuisine”.

Patron chef Simon works alongside head chef Paul Burgalieres and executive chef Tom Barnes in the kitchen, to create dishes inspired by his culinary travels around the world, from Hong King to London. The Anvil is part of Simon’s Cumbrian food empire, which also includes his farm and Henrock in Windermere. Fresh produce and ingredients from our farm are used in its four Lake District based restaurant menus, in particular Rogan & Co, which is a more relaxed dining experience led by Chef Cillian Hennessy.

Remember to book as early as possible, as tables can book up to four months or more in advance

From fresh seafood to local vegetables to floral designs you almost won’t want to spoil, L’Enclume’s food is art on a plate.

Beet Pie and East Coast Lobster served with marinated rosehip, Cherry Belle radish

Duroc pork and smoked eel fritter sserved with lovage and fermented sweet corn

Birch Sap Caramelized Berkswell Pudding served with stout vinegar, aged Berkswell

Cartmel Valley raw venison in charcoal oil served with pumpkin seeds, candied cucumber, nasturtium

Young Musselburgh leeks in haulm emulsion served with soft egg yolk, puffed millet, Westcombe cheese

How to book a table and a night?

There are still midweek dates available to book for lunch and these are scattered throughout the summer, with a limited number of Fridays and Saturdays until availability increases dramatically from mid -September and October, for lunches and dinners.

To reserve a table and check space in the log, click here, but be prepared to be savvy and flexible with your availability and be sure to book well in advance.

If all the dates you are looking for are booked, you can choose to subscribe to the waiting list and the newsletter, where you will also be alerted if places become free due to cancellations.

Currently rooms are limited, with only one night available in July and a few other nights mid-week throughout the summer. It is possible to book just a room without a table at L’Enclume, with prices from £330 per night in July including breakfast.

Alternatively, customers can book a package, which includes overnight stay and dinner at partner Rogan & Co restaurant from £375 per night including breakfast, but availability is also extremely limited until December.

Please note: L’Enclume is closed on Sundays and Mondays. A credit/debit card is required at time of reservation and the maximum number of guests per table is six. A discretionary service charge will be added to your bill.
