LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Barbecue lovers can rejoice on Friday as the new barbecue spot in the city of Lafayette opens at 11 a.m.
Indiana’s first location outside of Indianapolis, the Lafayette City BBQ will serve up all kinds of Southern classics such as pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, cornbread, mac and cheese, peach cobbler and much more.
“City BBQ is what we call a public smokehouse,” said Brian Toth, general manager of the Lafayette City BBQ site. “It’s food, all sides, meat, everything is made or smoked here on site. Everything is fresh.”
City BBQ will offer indoor and outdoor seating, curbside pickup, drive-thru and delivery through partnerships with DoorDash, Grubhub and other food delivery services.
City BBQ partners with Purdue University
Customers won’t be the only ones to benefit from visiting City BBQ, as the restaurant partners with Purdue University’s hospitality program to offer internships.
“We’re actually doing college internships,” Toth said, “for their classes… Right now we’re doing two of the hospitality internships. We have two people here earning credits at Purdue. That’s something something we’re going to do to keep growing.”

Toth said he can’t wait to see all the local citizens of Lafayette come in and become regulars after the grand opening.
“Just (meeting) the people,” Toth said, “just interacting with the people here in town. I went to our Whitestown joint for a little while, stayed there for a couple months. And just the people who come in, they’d drive from here to there or pick it up on the way back from Indianapolis and (they’d say) ‘Oh, I can’t wait for you (to open).’ I’m just excited to talk to people who come.”
Toth also noted that they are still looking to hire more staff.
